Emergence of the Divine Feminine
Life Force Arts Center invites visual artists to submit their work for
“Emergence of the Divine Feminine” a multi - arts festival, September 30 to October 30. to be held in conjunction with the Chicago Artists Month, October 2009.
Life Force Arts Center is Chicago’s space for spiritually based visual, literary and performing art. The Center presents dance, theater, music, performance art, authors and visual artists who work in traditions such as shamanic, goddess, earth-centered, visionary, angelic, yogic and other spirituallyuplifting paths.
Life Force Arts Center defines spiritual art as:
1) art that flows from spiritual practice,
2) art that strives to connect the audience with Spirit, or
3) art that creates spiritual healing, transformation or awakening.
In May the center hosted the 1st Annual Chicago Festival of Spiritual Art which began our official exploration of what spiritual art is and presented a range of spiritual art from different perspectives. Emergence of the Divine Feminine continues the exploration focusing on a theme that is becoming more present in our current culture and mass consciousness.
The festival and visual art show will take place in the 1200 square feet main space and the smaller front gallery room.
What is the Divine Feminine? The Divine Feminine can simply be defined as the female aspect of God or the Divine. Manifestations of the Divine Feminine are often expressed as, but not limited to: Goddess, Great Mother, Mother Earth, Mother Nature, Divine Mother of the Universe.
What are the different ways the Divine Feminine is expressed through art? What is happening now that is different from the past regarding the Divine Feminine? How are individuals experiencing the Divine Feminine within their own conscious awareness and feelings? What are the qualities that express the Divine Feminine? We will be reviewing different perspectives on this theme and also will consider how the current “emergence” of the Divine Feminine is influencing the arts.
Our preference is for art that is spiritually uplifting, inspirational, healing, transforming, and connects the viewer to the experience of the Divine Feminine.
